How to decorate small niches & corners

So, you’ve got your nails all done and your hair’s got that just-right shade of burgundy. Every inch of you from head to toe looks near damn perfect! Won’t you love the sparkle in your special someone’s eye when you appear so gorgeous?! Now, picture your home decked up in glamour or grace, as you prefer it. You are guaranteed to skip a heartbeat every time you look at it and everyone’s going to be asking you for a business card for your interior decorator. But is it really that hard for you to do this on your own?

The little things sometimes bring out the best in the larger, plainer things in life. So let’s talk about the little accessories that bring life to your room!

1.    Bowls and vases never go out of fashion. Talking about fashion, crystal and glass really do add a touch of glamour to the room. Therefore, go ahead and add a couple of them in those little niches in the wall beside your trendy staircases or on the little tables you have kept handy near your sofa. Large vases are perfect for large, spacious rooms. There are many places where you can easily find tall, artificial flowers to add a dash of colour to the room, as well.

2.    Metallic mini-sculptures have been doing quite the rounds in the trend circuit. When you have natural materials like straw or highly polished wood added to plain, black metal sculptures, you have a striking contrast. A perfect blend of the modern and the natural.

3.    Have many memories that you want to keep alive and also add a personal touch to your room? In fact, what room is complete without photographs? We’re sure having those larger than life portraits doing justice to your grandeur. But appeal to the fun side of your senses and buy photo frames online that could be elegant or funky too. They can be in the traditional colours like black and grey or you can indulge in modern shades like deep purple, silvery grey or forest green. What’s more, even the traditional wooden or silver frames now-a-days come in so many different types and are not just restricted to the straight-lined or leaf printed ones anymore. Complex French or Oriental designs are much popular now-a-days.

4.    Those little tables just never go out of fashion. Even in your master bedroom where you have your large mirror where you get prepared to look your best, there is that little table in antique cherry wood or modern chrome-and-glass that just begs those artfully arranged coasters or little appliquéd dishes made of porcelain that can hold little knick-knacks such as keys or other trinkets. Terracotta, clay, wood, fine bone china – these are just some of the materials that are used to make little bowls or trays to be put on such tables or in other corners of the room.

5.    Statuettes, lamps with elaborately worked lampshades, lamps in classy Middle-East patterns and hand-painted portraits in finely-polished wooden frames – these are just some other examples you can choose from to fill the corners of your rooms.

The more opulent your home is, the more attention you must pay to such little details. Embellishments on the corner pieces can be in the form of crystals, beads, feathers or mirrors – make sure they add just the right contrast to the other aspects of your room and create picture-perfect interiors with ease!
